Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989–Sec. 3(2)(v)–Legal aspects for recording the conviction–Besides the ingredients of the respective offence of IPC, the prosecution is further required to establish that the accused is a person of non SC/ST has committed the crime on a person of SC/ST for the reason that such person belonged to such community or tribe.
