Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954–Sec. 7/16–Sample of iodized salt was found adulterated Application u/s. 13(2)–Sample was drawn in the year 2000–Application was kept pending for eight years–Thereafter it was rejected without showing any good reason–No delay on part of petitioner–Now the direction of examination of the second sample would not serve any purpose because the iodine is a sublime element which evaporates upon exposure– Proceedings deserve to be quashed.
